Help! My Android 10 Phone Hotspot Is Not Detected By Other Devices!

Here we go again with our Twenty-first century problems. I recently went into this hitch and almost lost my wits trying to figure this out. But since you came here for answers and not for the YADA, read ahead soldier!

But first! Basic troubleshooting!

  1. Have you enabled the main phone’s hotspot? (duh.)
  2. Have you opened wifi on the secondary devices you wanted to connect the hotspot to? 0_0

If yes to all these, then proceed –>

WHAT: The AP Band (GHz) is incompatible with the device’s AP Band.

WHY: Newer mobile OS’s like Android 10 comes in the AP Band of 5 GHz which is not compatible with older devices. Luckily you can change this back to 2.5 GHz.

How: Open SETTINGS >MOBILE NETWORK > PERSONAL HOTSPOT > MORE > AP BAND >2.4 GHz

THEN: It should be able to locate the hotspot/wifi name on the other device. Click connect, then enter password.

Not working? Retry the step and make sure the AP Band is set to 2.4 Ghz.

However, if all else fails and you still wouldn’t be able to connect to your Android 10 hotspot, go buy a new one! (just kidding). Feel free to scour mother google’s database as this poor peasant here cannot afford to buy further technical knowledge. </3

*fingers crossed*
